Frustrate Your Opponents With Pro Terran Turtling
If you want to turtle as a Terran player, then you're going to be playing much longer games than aggressive players will. But if you're idea of fun means long, epic games this strategy might be one you want to take a look at.
The three main units that should make up your army in an effective turtle is hellions, siege tanks, and battlecruisers at the end. In the early game make a lot of hellions and do as much damage to your opponent's economy as you can. Because of their quick speed and huge damage vs. light units, hellions can dash past an opposing army into their mineral line and wreak havoc on any workers unfortunate enough to be mining there.
With the Infernal Pre-igniter upgrade only, a hellion will do 24 damage to light targets. This means that if you can get in close with a small group of hellions, only 3-4, every 2 hits will kill a worker. Not to mention that hellions do splash damage which means you'll be roasting a lot of gatherers in short order.
While you're crippling your opponents economy you should get a few more factories up and start fortifying your defenses around your base with siege tanks. Bunkers and missile turrets are also essential to keep your enemy at bay and prevent any sneaky air and/or cloak attacks.
Your goal should be to slowly move out and take expansions, leap-frogging your tanks around so they are never vulnerable to a counter-attack. Once you have 2 to 3 bases, it's time to build a Fusion Core and start building Battlecruisers. As you have the money upgrade weapons and armor at your armories and build more starports to create them quicker. Don't forget to buy Yamato Cannon upgrade to take out key units and ground defenses with your Battlecruisers.
While the Terran "turtle" strategy is not always the most effective or time efficient strategy out there, it can be extremely fun and allows you to tech up and get the high tier units that you may not usually see in normal 1v1 games.
The major weakness that this strategy has is it's immobility. If you're not a proactive scouter, you may find that you get overwhelmed by sheer numbers because your opponent took advantage and expanded across the whole map. If you find this is happening load up some medivacs with infantry and hellions to exploit the weak spots at your opponent's expansions.
