How do I take down an interior wall?
This wall is not loadbearing. but I want to leave the top 10 inches going across, like a bulkhead? Plus, I have wood laminate floors, can you move them once they are installed? thought we could just slide them to fill the gap from the wall, then cut new boards for the end gaps? but can you do that - or do you have to take them all the way up and reinstall?
If, as you say, this wall is not a loadbearing wall, then you shouldn't have any real problem taking it down. But, if it were me doing this, I'd take the whole wall down completey, then use some of the old 2x4's to make the bulkhead, as you call it. That would certainly be much easier than trying to leave 10"of the wall hanging from the ceiling, while removing the bottom half. As for the flooring, I've put a few of these down, and if memory serves me correctly, you have to lift each piece to be able to remove it or slide it in any direction. I'm pretty sure you can't just slide a piece that's in place, with others on either side. You'll most likely have to take it up to one wall and then re-install. Can't imagine why you'd want a threshold in the middle of a floor. That makes no sense at all to me.
