Why don't they put parachute onto a commercial air plane?
I know it's not feasible for passengers to use parachutes but how about putting a large parachute on the actual air plane itself?
If one of the engines failed while flying above the ocean pilots can activate the parachute and carry out soft landing onto the sea surface?
Commercial air planes fly high enough so I think there should be enough time to open a parachute and slow down the speed of descent of the air plane.
